The specialist magazine “Restaurant” has published its list of the 50 best restaurants in the world and among the top 20 there are no less than four for the most demanding visitors to enjoy in the Basque Country.
These are Mugaritz in San Sebastián, run by Andoni Luis Aduriz, in sixth place, the Asador Etxebarri in Axpe, which is headed by Bittor Arginzoniz and comes thirteenth in the list, the restaurant in San Sebastián run by the great maestro Juan Mari Arzak, a regular in ratings of this kind and seventeenth in the world, and Azurmendi in Bizkaia province with Eneko Atxa at the helm this time coming in nineteenth place.
It has become a tradition for all the international ratings of haute cuisine to take the Basque Country as their benchmark. This is the case with specialist listings like those of Restaurant magazine but also the Michelin stars or the Repsol suns.
Restaurant magazine’s list once again awards the top spot in the world to the Catalan Celler de Can Roca, as it had previously done in 2013.
