The world’s best restaurants have been awarded and various restaurants from the Basque country proved the quality and innovation that can be found in this society where gastronomy is deeply rooted ever since.

Two Basque culinary powerhouses made it in the top 10. MUGARITZ and its fellow San Sebastián establishment, ARZAK.

Great honor also for restaurant AZURMENDI from Larrabetzu, near Bilbao, who picked up the Sustainable Restaurant Award!
Debuting at number 26, Azurmendi made Basque gastronomy continue to advance within the worl’s gastronomic elite.

Furthermore, ASADOR ETXEBARRI (ranked 34th) and MARTIN BERASATEGUI (ranked 35th) made it into the list of the top 50.

The Danish restaurant NOMA, known for what the award organisers said was “meticulous attention to detail, innovative approach to foraging and experimentation with fermentation”, has been restored to the top spot after being ousted last year by Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca (ranked 2nd).
